This is what I found on TVGUIDE.COM:
On Saturday, Netflix finally confirmed that The X-Files star Gillian Anderson will indeed join The Crown‘s fourth season as former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher after months of swirling rumors to that effect.
In a statement posted to the show’s social media, Anderson said, “I am so excited to be joining the cast and crew of The Crown and to have the opportunity to portray such a complicated and controversial woman. Thatcher was undoubtedly formidable, but I am relishing exploring beneath the surface, and, dare I say, falling in love with the icon who, whether loved or despised, defined an era.”
Those Anderson fans who go in expecting some more of Dana Scully’s swagger and sizzle will probably be a bit disappointed, but from Anderson’s statement, it seems like she’s looking forward to mixing things up — after all, this is the same role that earned Meryl Streep her third Oscar.
The Crown Season 3 will arrive on Netflix on Sunday, Nov. 17.
“[Thatcher] was the longest-serving British prime minister of the 20th century and the first woman to hold that office. A Soviet journalist dubbed her ‘The “Iron Lady,”‘ a nickname that became associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style,” according to Wikipedia.

If I were @GillianA, I would be very careful with my words about Margaret Thatcher. That woman established an era whose horrors we are still facing nowadays, and publicly supported the coup d’etat in Chile and a murderer and dictator like Pinochet. She was pure evil.

Miners, British workers, and Western working-class people remember her government very well, as one of the worst things that happened to them in their lifetime. The joy of Neoliberalism, of course. https://t.co/xc48nDKKYG

“Falling in love” with the person responsible for Section 28, dead miners, and the utter obliteration of working class communities. Cool Gillian, very cool

Feels like we don’t really need anyone falling in love with Margaret Thatcher at the moment, but okay! https://t.co/xtp4JdNSPq

Very much looking forward to being able to use the line “I haven’t felt this sexually conflicted since they cast Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher in The Crown”.
